Exploring the Transformative Effects of tech-AI
It’s January 25, 2024. Welcome to IkshanaTechTales Digital Discoveries, we’re talking about how startups wants to use AI to help other companies reduce their software spend; what’s going on with Robotics; Let’s have some fun!
Google Chrome gets more of an AI treatment that includes a writing helper, theme creator and tab organizer. Next, Google’s new Gemini now powers the conversational experience within the Google Ads platform. And finally, the company finds itself in some hot water with an online travel agency after making some tweaks to comply with how search results should be displayed in the European Union.
Send AI wants to help companies better use data from docs: Flush with €2.2 million in new capital, raised in part from Google’s Gradient Ventures, Send AI aims to use custom language models to help companies pull, sort and export data from documents. Sure, there are a lot of players in that space already, but have you seen how many docs there are in the world?
Microsoft recently introduced new Android, iOS, and iPadOS apps for Copilot, along with a new Copilot keyboard key coming to new devices. GPT-4, DALL-E 3, Voice Chat, and Vision are all available for free now without the need for ChatGPT+.
OpenDialog wants to bring chat bots to regulated biz: Companies have long employed AI tools to talk to customers with varying amounts of success, but that kind of unreliability is a big red flag for companies in highly regulated industries. What if the AI says something that’s not ideal? Enter OpenDialog: this UK-based startup has raised $8 million to bring conversational AI to healthcare and insurance companies.

Figure-01's AI achieved a major breakthrough. It can learn how to self-correct tasks just by watching humans do tasks. For example, we can now get human data for applications like making coffee, and train the AI system end-to-end.

Researchers just developed DeWave. The new AI system can turn silent thoughts into text by decoding brain signals. The system achieved over 40% accuracy in translating verbs directly from neural signals, without the need for invasive implants.

Google DeepMind and Stanford researchers introduced Mobile Aloha. It's an open-source robotic system capable of completing complex tasks like cooking, cleaning, and more. Notably, the cooking skills were remotely controlled (by humans).
JPMorgan’s research team just introduced an AI model to understand complex business documents called DocLLM.
The data was impressive, with DocLLM outperforming leading models (including GPT-4) by over 15% on some form analysis challenges
Alibaba researchers released a lifelike AI avatar-maker. Make-A-Character, or 'Mach' is an AI system that turns text prompts into realistic 3D avatars, using LLM and vision models.
To close out, an increasing consumer appetite for sustainable packaging is powering a new wave of startups, which is likely to be a great thing for Mama Earth and the Planeteers who care for the environment!
Happy Learning, See you next time.
